Once a weapon hits its level cap in Black Ops 7, you'll notice a little "Prestige Available" nudge in the loadout screen, and it's hard not to click it—especially if you've been farming matches in a CoD BO7 Bot Lobby to test builds and stack XP. Tap prestige and the game does the classic reset: back to level one, attachments locked again, the whole lot. It sounds like punishment, but it's more like the start of a new lap, with better prizes and a cleaner path to showing you've actually put time into that gun.

The rough part is obvious: your trusty setup disappears, so no laser-beam recoil build on day one. The smart part is the permanent unlock token you get the moment you prestige that weapon. It's not some vague reward you'll forget about, either—you can instantly reclaim the one attachment you can't stand playing without. For most people that's an optic, a suppressor, or the grip that makes the gun feel "right." You still have to earn the rest again, but you're not forced to slog through early levels with a totally naked weapon.

Players don't reset because they love losing progress. They do it because the rewards actually matter in-game. First, you get a prestige attachment tailored to that specific firearm, which can change how it plays rather than just looking fancy. Second, you unlock a prestige camo—and this is the big hook—because it's universal. Earn it on an AR and you can run it on your SMGs, LMGs, pistols, whatever. It turns one weapon grind into a whole-armory flex, which is way more satisfying than another gun-locked skin you'll never see again.

Each weapon lets you run the standard prestige loop two times. After that, it shifts into Prestige Master and the ceiling jumps up to level 250. The Master stretch is where the game starts dripping out more universal camos at level 100, level 150, level 200, and level 250, in that order. And yeah, 250 sounds nasty on paper, but XP scaling in Master ranks speeds things up, so you're not stuck in the same slow grind you did at the start.

The timing is the best part: if you're playing objectives and not just chasing clips, you'll often be ready to prestige around when your base military camos are wrapping up anyway. It feels like the game's nudging you forward instead of dragging you. And if you're the kind of player who likes keeping one "main" gun in rotation, having that long Master track gives your matches a reason to keep paying out—especially if you're also topping up boosts or grabbing gear through services like U4GM when you want to stay locked in on the grind without wasting time on setup hassles.
